2026 Season
Welcome to Season #31
The 2026 season begins the first Sunday of January and goes until the end of March. We play on Sunday afternoons (12-4PM). The regular season is 11 weeks of play and the top 8 teams make playoffs. The season concludes with the championship game and end of season banquet.
Registration information
We’re excited for the 2026 season and expect spots to fill quickly, so don’t wait to register!
Things to know BEFORE you register:
Submitting the registration form does not guarantee league participation — it means that you will be entered into the annual league draft if you registered before the season’s capacity limit has been met. Anyone who submits the registration form after the season’s capacity limit has been met or after the deadline will be waitlisted and contacted if any spots open up.
League dues: The cost to play is $195.00. To keep the league sustainable and ensure 100% of your dues go directly toward operating costs, we include a small processing fee ($5) to cover PayPal’s nonprofit transaction charges.
You will be invoiced via PayPal after your registration has been confirmed (i.e. you registered in time and within the season’s capacity limit). Your dues include 11 guaranteed games (and the opportunity for additional games through playoffs), and pay for gym time, referees, a jersey, liability insurance, processing fees, and socials during the season.
We cannot offer player financial assistance to decrease the amount of league dues this season (2026) because of a lack of donations/sponsors. We can, however, allow you to pay your dues in installments throughout the season. If you register to play, you agree to pay the full $195.00.
Location: Emmanuel College’s Jean Yawkey Center (400 The Fenway, Boston), which is accessible via the MBTA or you can park for free on campus.
Level of play: The WBGBL offers one level of play for new and returning players. The league consists of many experienced and intermediate players who have a firm grasp on the fundamentals of basketball and are able to compete at varying levels of skill beyond novice, ranging from former collegiate or high school athletes to the occasional pick up player.
New Registration Runs (for new players): If you are new to the league and your registration is confirmed, you will be asked to attend New Registration Runs – an event to meet the league’s leadership team, captains, and each other, as well as get some runs in before the season starts. This event will take place on Sunday, December 7, 2025 from 12:00-1:00PM at Emmanuel College’s Jean Yawkey Center.
Attendance: Please only register if you are committed to attending the majority of games as team’s depend on players showing up each week to have enough players to play. If you can’t make a game, you are expected to communicate this to your captain ahead of time.
Open Gyms: We’re hosting three open gyms at Emmanuel College’s Jean Yawkey Center in December to shake off the rust (all are welcome; you don’t have to be in the league to participate):
Sunday, December 7 from 1:00-2:00PM (after New Registration Runs)
Sunday, December 14 from 11:30AM-1:30PM
Sunday, December 21 from 12:00-2:00PM
Draft 2026 Schedule: We play on Sundays from January to March, including two doubleheaders on 1/25 and 3/1 (and a back up doubleheader if needed on 3/8) and a Wednesday night game on 2/11. See below for the draft schedule.
